Julian Macke MA, LMHCA, ATR-P, has a masters degree in Counseling and Art Therapy, and an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts. He is working under the supervision of Dr. Misty Gibson while working toward full licensure. Julian specializes in work with neuroqueer clients, integrating aspects of art therapy, somatic theory, and internal family systems theory. Julian works from an understanding that the liberation and empowerment of all people is necessary for community and global healing, and believes that this work begins in each of us through the liberation of our own rejected internal parts. As a therapist, Julian practices a collaborative process that values client expertise on their own minds, bodies, and lived experiences. He will work with the full complexity of your identity to support you in self-defining what healing means.
As an autistic clinician, Julian has personal and professional insight into ways that neuronormative bias is often upheld in therapy. He believes that you deserve a healing space where you can show up as your full self. This means there is no singularly correct way to exist in mind and body, to communicate, move, or to connect with the world and with others. Julian is supportive of multi-modal communication and believes in the power of art not just as a therapeutic tool, but as a tool for language and meaning-making where words fail. Julian is passionate about supporting autistic and transgender/genderqueer clients in strengthening personal and collective identity, developing mind-body connection, and deepening interpersonal relationships. He enjoys helping clients to build self confidence, develop skills in self-advocacy and emotional regulation, and in adjusting to adulthood, newly discovered neurodivergence, and other major life changes. Julian has experience supporting plural systems and polyamorous folks, and is sex positive. He is affirming of kink/BDSM communities/identities and sex workers.
